Pooja's Letter

Dear Past Me,

I wish I had reminded you more of just how incredible you are. You have been through so much with anxiety and depression, but you have been amazing throughout your journey. The fact that you recognised in yourself that something was wrong and went to seek help is incredibly brave. The fact that you have been honest with family, friends and colleagues about your diagnosis and opened up, you should be so proud.

The steps you have taken to rebuild and recover, from Bollywood dancing to Zumba, surrounding yourself with positive people, creating unforgettable memories and focusing on your goals. Today, you have come so far and are using your journey to help others. Sharing your story does help others and works towards erasing the stigma. Is there anything better?

Please know that even when there are hard days, and there will be hard days, where you may have a panic attack or feel very low, you are strong and equipped and can get through it. Most importantly, you are not alone, you have supportive and loving people in your life who will be there for you in a heartbeat. And never forget that the professionals are there and there is no shame in reaching out.

I wish I had told you more, but hopefully you will now always remember that you are enough and you are loved just the way you are. That your diagnosis does not define you and you can and will achieve all your goals.

You are a beautiful woman inside and out, please never forget this.

You got this.

Love, Me Today
